These are some of my recent oil paintings on canvas and works in oil pastels on art paper.
My affectionate interpretations of the English romantic landscape paintings of John Constable.
In the 1990s at the invitation of Atkins Fine Art, I lived in France and painted landscapes of the Auvergne, noted for its vast areas of open spaces and golden sunlight.
When at Normandy in France, my impression was of a sky and ocean with the most beautiful and ever-changing light that I had ever seen which seemed to skip along the water.
I was captured by the contrast of shadows and light amidst these park benches during my stay in Mainz, Germany.
The Ring of Kerry in Ireland captured my personal perspective of expression, retaining my minimal impressionistic approach and obsessive fascination with clouds, sky, ocean, and the land.
Intense Caribbean sunlight with themes of water and objects within the landscape gave me opportunity to develop an interplay of light and shadows central to my work throughout the 1980s when I lived in Jamaica.
In 2001, I had the opportunity to live in Tokyo and was inspired to paint a series of landscapes based on views I experienced in my travels throughout Japan.
The hills. mountains, woods, and coasts of United States were my inspirations for these landscape paintings.
